Because of its safety, reliability and efficiency, diesel is the predominant power source for public transit, school and intercity bus services.  Over time, public transport will transition to hybrid and 100% electric vehicles, but this will take decades.

In the meantime, road transport is an huge source of both greenhouse gases and air pollutants, being responsible for significant contributions to emissions of Carbon Dioxide, Nitrogen Oxides, Particulate Matter – PM10 and PM2.5.

ElimiNOX Eco ™ has the capability to make significant reductions to these emissions with proven results from even the latest diesel engines and with HVO. Although HVO reduces NOx emissions there are still emissions of particulate matter where ElimiNOX Eco ™ is again proven to deliver improvement.

The extent to which the population and environment are exposed to harmful levels of air pollution is dependent upon various factors. However, as road transport emissions tend to occur in areas frequented by people, they are, relatively, more harmful than those from other sources.

Transport emissions — which primarily involve road, rail, air and marine transportation — accounted for over 24% of global CO2 emissions in 2016. They’re also expected to grow at a faster rate than that from any other sector, posing a major challenge to efforts to reduce emissions in line with the Paris Agreement and other global goals.

Public authorities can meet their social obligations not to contribute more than necessary to climate change and poor air quality causing respiratory illnesses by using ElimiNOX Eco ™ throughout their fleets of buses, whether city buses or school buses.

Cost as ever is also an issue. There is a limit to how much fares can be increased to compensate for higher fuel costs, and local education budgets are always under pressure. ElimiNOX Eco ™ can be expected to reduce your fuel costs by as much as 8%.

Cost Savings

You can expect a reduction in diesel fuel consumption of between 5% and 10%, plus lower maintenance costs.

There is no doubt that diesel (in addition to petrol) engines have contributed considerably to global pollution and climate change.

As a result, President Biden is under pressure to introduce legislation to phase out diesel and gasoline vehicles by 2050. Several states either have such legislation or are planning it. California by Executive Order has banned the sale of new gasoline cars by 2035.  New York recently passed a directive requiring all new car sales to be electric by 2035 and trucks by 2045.

In the interim, the use of diesel and gasoline will continue, and for those businesses or individuals who have a genuine concern about climate change (carbon emissions) or respiratory health issues (micro particulates, nitrogen oxides and sulphur dioxide), using ElimiNOX Eco ™ will reduce their emissions footprint…materially so.

ElimiNOX Eco ™ reduces the production of harmful, environmentally damaging greenhouse gas emissions such as CO2/NOx (up to 30%), whilst also reducing deadly Particulate Matter (PMs), including soot and smoke (up to 60+% reduction for PM2.5 and 50+%

As governmental or public bodies, public transport services have an obligation to the public to control their impact on climate change, air pollution and the environment in general.

Incorporation of ElimiNOX Eco ™  become an important part of the service’s decarbonisation responsibilities reducing CO2 emissions by 30%.

ElimiNOX Eco ™ has been rigorously and successfully tested by world renown laboratories including Socotec Laboratories. The test results have been declared as ‘game changing’ for the diesel engine, environmental pollution and the health problems associated with diesel engine pollutants.

Moreover, Bureau Veritas have certified that diesel fuel conditioned with ElimiNox Eco™  not only retains compliance with EN590 but also benefits from an increase of over 30% improvement in Lubricity.

Improvements in Reliability

The improvements in efficiency including the substantial increase in lubricity (30%) and reductions in deposits due to lower particulate matter emissions, result in better performance and critically less breakdowns due to engine failure.

Storage Tanks

ElimiNOX Eco ™ has the added benefit of reducing maintenance and improving the life span of fuel storage tanks.  It will also keep fuel in storage tanks clean, scavenging excess water from fuel tanks maintaining fuel integrity and stability contributing to reduced filter blocking. . It ensures diesel bug is both eliminated and prevented.

Case Studies

Coach Operator – E&M Horsburgh

Over 16,000 kms of regular travel routes primarily from Livingston to Edinburgh hospitals using [the Product], evidenced a 9% fuel saving/ increase in economy, from 12.98 mpg to 14.16 mpg. This is very significant both economically and environmentally and corresponds well with evaluations of other vehicle types.

Fuel Savings:

  • 263 litres (9%) of fuel saved in one month
  • In US terms, this would typically save $390 at current average diesel prices in the USA ($5.62 at 9 May 2022)
  • Over the course of one year, each bus could therefore be expected to achieve an efficiency saving of $4,680
  • For E & M Horsburgh’s entire fleet of 98 vehicles, this would reduce the company’s fuel bill by $458,640 per annum

US Bus & Coach operators, whether running private inter-city services, or urban public transport services, should experience comparable cost savings.
